Humor has been described as the quality of being amusing or comedic in speech and literature. I like someone being funny! Maybe the state of mind humorous. The lighter side of life as seen in Readers Digest quips and quotes for example. Finding humor in everyday life situations. We read, we think, we laugh, chuckle or go hmmmmm.
For me, Laughter says it all. I have friends who make me laugh, really laugh, and that is a gift and a blessing. So many facial muscles move when we laugh, we hear our selves belt one out and we step out of the mundane for a minute. Sometimes we laugh until tears emerge from our eyes as the funny thing is so poignant, or the memory so vivid. My point here is Humor is a good thing. We see so much serious stuff on the news that the accumulated total can be overwhelming. For example, for 15 cents a day, you can provide food for the emaciated child before you. Statistics on the hospitalizations daily for covid, then the deaths, the hurricane in Florida, the flood in Texas, the police shooting in Georgia, the bombing in Israel, the Terrorist in Ohio - You see my point?
My exercise class started off each morning with a funny joke or story, and I was one of those responsible for bringing in a daily joke. Non political, clean and not offensive hopefully. It wasn’t easy but I did it. Some people came for the jokes more than the class. It was hilarious! Do I appreciate humor, YES! Senior jokes, yes, witty jokes, funny stories yes yes. I have jokes I have kept for ten years called “good stuff to keep“ on my computer. Send them to friends and we all laugh like we did the first time we saw them.
